Networking Skills for All
It used to be that computer, network and internet skills were nice for an employee to have and there were always a few people that seemed ahead of the curve in terms of these skills. However most typical business and office workers, while having some IT technical skills, lack the necessary understanding and training to be as effective as possible in the coming digital age. With the adoption of more connected devices, the complexity of how these devices work together and the security knowledge needed to be vigilant, “basic” IT Skills are no longer enough. Companies need to spend time in educating and certifying there employees to ensure that they can keep up in the coming years.
Having a well planned and deployed network will ultimately help your employees when it comes to understanding how things work, so if there is a network emergency, you are not relying on one or two IT experts or vendors. By keeping things organized and simplified, you will raise your chances that your employees will be able to troubleshoot more issues in house, saving valuable time and resources. And as more of employees jobs rely on the transfer of data and the ability to interact with connected devices to perform their duties, it is critical that they can identify problems and security threats before they escalate and become large issues.
Security, Above All
One of the most important reason to have employees that are well trained in IT best practices is that it reduces your vulnerability to external security threats. Employees who are not versed or educated on the latest phishing attempts, data handling and encryption, physical hacking techniques and privacy, are leaving you and your business open to massive threats. Threats that could potentially destroy your business and cost you more than it would to have your employees trained.
